who would’ve thunk it - a waterfall in sioux falls, south dakota! i was planning on eating dinner at a brewpub just up the road from here, but it was closed for remodeling. :( fortunately, perkins saved the day and i had some uber pancakes instead. -

the missouri river as seen from a city park in omaha. i wasn’t actually supposed to go to nebraska, but i was on i-26 for a good chunk of the afternoon, which is just a few miles east of the state, so i hopped into omaha for lunch on the river. -

more university of iowa. this is the old capitol. apparently iowa city used to be the state capital before des moines stole its glory. -

day 2 - i stopped at the university of iowa (ironically, the 2nd of 3 “u of i”s i would be stopping at) to eat breakfast, seeing as i-80 goes right through iowa city. this shot is of this crazy cool steeple in their med school area. i tried to get a closer look at the building, but as far as i could tell, it was completely surrounded by other buildings! i think i wasted a good hour walking in circles around this area. -

another angle of my first camp. i built that fire without a match, with nothing but the glowing embers that the previous occupant had foolishly not put out. /flex -

my very first camp. hunt’s cedar river campground. it was kinda lame, since it was maybe 100 yds off of i-80. but at least there was a river. you can kinda see it in the background. -

the mississippi river, as seen from davenport, iowa. that riverboat thing to the right is a casino. -

more illinois campus. this is their big oval-like thing. i ate lunch on a bench just behind the tree you see on the left. -

day 1 - the university of illinois. i was driving right past urbana/champaign so i stopped here for lunch. this was a pimp looking statue/building right on the corner of campus -
in darkest day, in blackest night, neither rain, nor snow, nor heat...
The nerdtastically amazing fact that the US Postal Service has released a set of DC Comics super-heroes postage stamps has me giddy with glee. I feel ridiculously secure knowing that my first rent check for graduate housing will be escorted to Idaho by none other than Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern of Sector 2814!
